The Health and Social Care framework covers care workers, personal assistants, domiciliary care workers community, support and outreach workers, supervisors, senior care workers in adult social care and for example healthcare assistants or clinical support workers in the health sector. It’s suitable for those working in the NHS, with private health care or social care providers, local authorities and voluntary organisations.
Level 2 will be suitable for you if you report to and take instructions from a boss or supervisor. Your job role will have some responsibility and may require you to work as part of a team. At Level 2 you’ll develop a clear understanding of your specific role and responsibilities and you’ll be shown how you can help to create a safe, healthy environment for yourself and those you care for. The courses also cover equality, discrimination and stereotyping and you’ll see the day-to-day problems caused by prejudice within a care environment.
An NVQ in Health and Social Care lets you show your current employer – and any future employer – that you have reached a recognised, national standard in social care. The qualification helps you to improve your Health and Social Care skills so that you become more effective and efficient at work. The NVQ learning programme lets you fill any skills gaps you have quickly and easily while you work. The qualification is flexible. You choose which skills you need to develop to help you in your own particular job and then follow a tailor-made programme that meets your individual needs

Begin a life long learning in Health & Social Care Gain a nationally recognised certificate; which indicates your competence. You will study four mandatory units which include communication and record keeping for the individuals you support in your setting; Health & Safety of yourself and individuals; Develop your own knowledge and practice and ensure your actions support the care, protection and well being of individuals. You will complete further optional units which are relevant to your work environment.
This programme is suitable for people who are in the care sector, who support individuals with their day-to-day requirements, support them with their physical and emotional needs and maintain their independence. You will gain an NVQ 3 Award in Health & Social Care validated by EDI Plc.
The following four core units of study will be undertaken: Promote effective communication for and about individuals Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety & security in the working environment. Reflect on and develop your practice, promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals. Learning and assessment You will be assessed at your place of work undertaking daily tasks relevant to the assessment criteria. You will also complete eight written assignments to build up a portfolio of underpinning evidence. What can be achieved after the programme? You can work in a hospital or residential setting.
This course is also recognised as part of the entry requirement if you wish to pursue a course in nursing. You can progress onto the NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care
